My experience in sports rehabilitation and kinesiology, as well as many years I spent training and studying Martial arts gives me a unique perspective on the subject of injury prevention and injury recovery.
Whether you're an experienced athlete or just a weekend warrior, you're probably aware of bumps and bruises and the occasional slight wear and tear on your body when it is to participate in your activity of interest. Some very general principles to know especially if you start your training are:
1. Go slowly, step by step when you learn a technique. If you start a new program or new type of activity, it is extremely important to take your time and learn the proper technique or movement. Poor technique lends itself to the query that was inefficient and that the injury occur?
2. Focus on your form and technique. If there's one thing to emphasize is proper form and technique as mentioned above. Whether in the form appropriate all swimming while proper motion pedaling on a bicycle or a golf swing or whatever your activity, take time to learn things correctly and allow your body to adjust to a different movement.
3. This May Be coachable applies not all athletes, especially weekend warriors. But it helps to get a second opinion to ensure that you are moving as efficiently as you can.
4. Do not do it! This was in good shape and technique. If you do not have a correct technique and you do it faster or more aggressively for the simple pleasure of going faster and more aggressive you have a greater chance of injuring yourself!
5. Pay attention to your body! If you are very tired and tired, consider taking a break or slow down for a while.
6. Doing some additional exercises. Stretching, calisthenics, Core stability exercises and body weight are all things you can do outside of your chosen activity that (1) can be done at home and (2) does not require much equipment, and (3) yield great results in terms of general awareness of body and conditioning.
7. If you get injured RATED ASAP! The last thing you want is simply to ignore something and we hope it goes! Make sure it does not matter, by getting an evaluation by a professional as soon as you can.
8. Ice, heat, Epsom salts – things are easy, accessible and simple you can ask to take care of those aches, pains, bumps and bruises.
I hope this gives you an idea of what you can do to prevent injuries from occurring. To fully enjoy your selected activities, you need to stay injury-free as much as possible. I hope these 8 tips will help you have more fun and keep you injury free!
